2012-2013 Executive Elections
Congratulations to the newly elected 2012-2013 PCSA Executive Committee. After tallying all of the votes, we are proud to announce the Officers for next academic year will be:
Graduate Chair: Kate Reynolds, who will be a second year MA student in the Department of Popular Culture at BGSU during her tenure. Kate graduated from Oklahoma State University with an English degree and a minor in Gender and Women's studies where she completed an undergraduate thesis about marriage on the moon, looking at utopian sci fi novels and the various configurations of officially sanctioned relationships. Since arriving at BGSU, her interests have come to involve robots, sci-fi, feminism with a focus on how these relate and interact in video games. More specifically, she is interested in role-playing video games and the ways these games allow gender play, and if all gamers are secretly cyborgs (spoiler: yes).
Undergraduate Chair: Emily Davis, who will be a senior student at BGSU majoring in Popular Culture and minoring in Folklore and Folklife during her tenure. In her spare time Emily plays entirely too many hours of video games, with World of Warcraft taking up most of those hours as she grinds for gear for her Orc Shaman or punishes Alliance scum. Some of her favorite shows include The Walking Dead, Dexter (the early seasons), and The Golden Girls. She is excited to take office and looks forward to getting to know our membership!
Treasurer: Jacob Brown, who will be a senior student at BGSU majoring in Popular Culture and is a former Treasurer and President of the Bowling Green Gaming Society.
Secretary: Eric Sobel, who will be a second year MA student in the Department of Popular Culture at BGSU during his tenure. Eric received his undergraduate degree at the University of Toledo in English and Art History. His research interests include comic books, action figures and punk rock.
Again, congratulations to the incoming officers. We are very pleased with your enthusiasm and look forward to your excellent leadership in the coming year!
